About

Daniel Dehaan
Sound designer, composer, and music technology educator.
I work at the intersection of audio design and creative expression, combining technical expertise with artistic sensibility. My career spans award-winning VR games, interactive installations, and music technology education.
What I Do
- Sound Design: Creating immersive audio for VR, interactive installations, and digital experiences
- Music Technology Education: Assistant Professor at Columbia College Chicago, where I secured funding to establish three state-of-the-art production studios
- Creative Collaboration: Partnering with developers on interactive projects, from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra to brands like T-Mobile and Beam Suntory
Philosophy
My core motivation centers on how technology can enhance rather than complicate the creative process. I design responsive audio systems and provide guidance on music technology tools that serve artistic goals rather than constraining them.
When technology serves creativity rather than constraining it, we unlock new realms of artistic possibility.
Beyond Work
I perform with modular synthesizers, partner with developers on interactive projects, and record natural soundscapes.
